Announcing our 25th Anniversary

GreenBlue Urban are delighted to celebrate their 25th silver anniversary.

The month was July, the year 1992, a landscape gardener from Hastings, East Sussex having studied horticulture, arboriculture, tree nomenclature and landscape design at Plumpton Agricultural College soon realised there were causes for early tree mortality.

On a particularly dry summer he discovered that drought stress was the biggest single killer for newly planted trees.  Back home in the family garden shed after abundant research a simple solution was created; a perforated tube, fixed to a tree stake, looping around the root system made tree watering hugely more efficient. The RootRain Metro had arrived and the forenamed company Greenleaf was created!

The original Greenleaf product to market.

Rolling forward to 1997 saw the introduction of the ReRoot and RootDirector range. Then to 2001 RootCell, the world’s first commercial load bearing soil cell for urban trees.

With the introduction of ArborSystem the complete urban tree pit package, the company were growing from strength to strength. Now distributing on a global scale, addressing and educating on the prevention of premature tree loss.

2013 saw the name change to GreenBlue Urban, a re-brand reflecting the maturity of the product range, incorporating the move into Sustainable Urban Drainage tree pits.

The pinnacle achievement was in 2015 when GreenBlue Urban moved into their own purpose built premises – Northpoint, Bodiam, East Sussex. With room to grow the business and green infrastructure for many years to come.

Our purpose built premises.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank staff past and present, suppliers, advisors, customers and of course family and friends who have supported us during this wonderful journey!
