GreenBlue Urban Supports Rainwater Management Initiatives at Staveley C of E Primary School

GreenBlue Urban is proud to announce its recent contribution to Staveley C of E Primary School. We supplied nine SuDSPods as part of an innovative effort to mitigate rainwater runoff from the school’s roof. This initiative aligns with United Utilities’ commitment to sustainable water management and climate change education.

Last week, the United Utilities rainwater Management team visited Staveley C of E Primary School for an engaging assembly focused on the importance of capturing rainwater considering climate change. The presentation, aimed at students and teachers, highlighted the role of sustainable practices in preserving this vital resource.

Katy Bevan, Operations Manager in the Rainwater Management team, shared insights on how the SuDSPods function.

“These pods are designed to temporarily store rainwater before it is slowly released into the sewer network, reducing the risk of flooding and improving water quality,” she explained.

To engage the students further, a drawing competition was announced, inviting them to illustrate their ideas about rainwater management. The winners will receive book vouchers, and their artwork will be displayed near the SuDSPods, creating a lasting connection between the students and their environment.

Katy added:

“We are excited to see the children’s creative expressions and look forward to celebrating their contributions to our sustainable future.”
